Maharashtra-born Entrepreneur and Shark Anupam Mittal was born to Bhagwati Devi and Gopal Krishna Mittal. Currently, he is living in Mumbai. Business runs in the Mittal family. Anupam’s father was also a businessperson. During his college days, Mittal used to help his father with his business after returning from college.

He used to invest two hours every day in his father’s company. Soon, Mittal also got a contract from Europe. But unfortunately, this contract was no success. He also went to Europe but failed there as well. But failure never stopped Mittal from trying. Mittal got his entry to Boston College in the Business/Commerce department. Mittal got enrolled in the -1994 -1997 batch.

Once he finished college in Boston, Mittal joined MicroStrategy in Washington, DC. Mittal worked there for four years.

1. Shaadi.com

Anupam Mittal started Sagaai.com in 1997. This online platform served as a matchmaking platform for India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. However, thinking that Shaadi was more marketable, Anupam changed the name of Sagaai.com to Shaadi.com in 1999. Shaadi.com’s initial customers or users of Shaadi.com were non-resident Indians who were looking for matches.

During the start of the 2000s, the internet industry suffered a massive crisis. As a result, Shaadi.com also saw some downfalls during that time. So, at that time, Anupam Decided to move back to India. But, soon, that barrier was broken, and resident Indians and Pakistani and Bangladeshi people started using the platform.

Business Today marked Shaadi.com as one of the top ten marketers in 2007. The wheel of success was rolling for Anupam Mittal in the early 2000s, and he started another company, Makaan.com. This is the online marketplace for renting and selling real estate properties, rooms, and homes. Anupam also started Mauj Mobile, an online gaming and content marketplace.

He is also an investor. He started investing very early in his entrepreneurial journey. In 2007, Anupam started investing when they did not know the meaning of the term Angel Investor. The majority of his investments were in startups, and he had invested in more than 200 startup companies.

Some of his early investments include Sapience Analytics, Peel Works, Big Basket, Pretty Secrets, Cafe Zoe, Ketto, Druva, TaxSpanner, Prop Tiger, FarEye, etc. Not only businesses, but Anupam Mittal also produced two Bollywood movies named 99 and Flavors.
